JAKARTA - The government has officially given legal legitimacy to the management of the United Development Party (PPP) under Muhamad Mardiono, which is claimed to be the result of the Xth Congress in Jakarta. However, this step immediately received strong resistance from Agus Suparmanto's camp which considered the decision invalid.

Previously, Mardiono first submitted the management file to the Ministry of Law and Human Rights on Tuesday, September 30. A day later, Agus Suparmanto's camp also registered the results of its congress. However, the government prefers to ratify Mardiono's management with the signing of a decree on Wednesday, October 1, at around 10:00 WIB.

On the other hand, Agus Suparmanto's camp strongly rejected this ratification. They assessed that the congress forum in Ancol was procedurally flawed and did not meet the quorum.

The rejection also emerged from a number of regional administrators who remained loyal to Agus. They are committed to taking legal and political channels to cancel the Decree of the Minister of Law and Human Rights.

"For us at the East Java PPP, the decision was very hasty and careless, not paying attention to the dynamics that occurred at the congress forum," said Mundjidah Wahab in a written statement, last Friday.
