Rano Karno Reminds DKI Residents To Get Septic Tanks Every 3 Years

Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Rano Karno reminded residents to suction the septic tank every three years to avoid the risk of exploding due to gas buildup.

"Remember, the 'septic tank' or place of office must be sucked in at least once every three years," he said in the Ancol area, North Jakarta, Saturday, October 4.

He conveyed this considering that the average community in Jakarta did not realize the importance of regularly extracting septic tanks.

The public can take advantage of private septic tank suction services or Paljaya. According to him, the rates charged are not expensive. Based on information from Paljaya's official website, the cost of taking mud is IDR 150 thousand per m3.

"If it is not sucked up, it can explode. The incident in Pamulang exploded from a 'septic tank'. It turns out that even a 'septic tank' suction should not dry up, it must be left because there are bacteria there," said Rano.

He said socialization related to the importance of safe sanitation must continue to be carried out including septic suction in the septic tank every three years.

Previously, while reviewing Setiabudi Wastewater Processing Installation (IPAL) on Jalan Galunggung, Setiabudi District, South Jakarta, on Thursday (2/10), Rano encouraged increased cooperation with various parties, including Paljaya.

This is to ensure that waste treatment is effective and has a positive impact on the health of residents and the quality of the city environment.

Because at this time, he said, 70 percent of the waste in Jakarta had not been processed.
