Police Chief-Minister of Agriculture Discusses Self-Sufficiency In Rice And Distribution Of Subsidized Fertilizer

JAKARTA - Chief of Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo received an audience of Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo along with the ranks at the National Police Headquarters.

Several matters related to strengthening the agricultural sector are discussed, ranging from rice self-sufficiency to the supervision of subsidized fertilizer distribution for farmers.

The police chief stressed that rice self-sufficiency is a common goal. With rice self-sufficiency, Indonesia can not only fulfill the needs of its people but also can export to countries in need.

"The police are ready to back up how much rice harvest from the farmers. With self-sufficiency in rice, we can export," the Police Chief said in a written statement, Monday, May 17.

Related to fertilizer subsidies, the Police Chief requested support from the Ministry of Agriculture in the form of data distribution. Thus, the ranks of the National Police are very easy to monitor or supervise in the distribution of subsidized fertilizers.

"To be given the map so that we know the distribution of fertilizer anywhere. So that my members can monitor, if there is a suitable can be traced where the root of the problem, most importantly farmers are not harmed," said the Police Chief.

On the other hand, The National Police supports domestic soybean production by mapping existing soybean planting land so as to encourage domestic soybean production.

"Domestic soybeans must be depleted first new exports, need to be calculated (domestic soybean stock) so as scarcity not to occur . We are very supportive," added the Police Chief.

Meanwhile, Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo expressed his gratitude to the ranks of the Bhayangkara Corps which have been constructed a lot in maintaining the price and availability of food.

"All foodstuffs can be maintained because the Police Food Task Force helps well," said Yasin Limpo.

The man who is familiarly called SYL also expects the full support of the Police to safeguard the agricultural sector, especially the 11 priority agricultural commodities. For example, in the meeting also conducted a memorandum of understanding or MoU commodity priority breeding swallow nest.
