Raids At Wouma Market And Pattimura Street, Police Find Youth To Save Marijuana

WAMENA - Jayawijaya Resort Police (Polres), Papua Mountains, arrested two youths caught carrying marijuana in raids on sharp weapons and narcotics at a number of vulnerable points in Wamena.

Jayawijaya Police Chief AKBP Anak Agung Made Satriya Bimantara said the raid was held to improve public security and order (kamtibmas).

"The raids were carried out by Alert I and IV Team personnel in two locations, namely the Wouma Market T-junction Ahmad Yani and the Ahmad Yani Pattimura Wamena intersection," said Satriya in a written statement, Friday, October 3.

From the results of the examination, the police found a clear plastic measuring containing marijuana from a young man with the initials DK (21) while checking a motorcycle passing through Wouma Market.

Not long ago, officers again found another young man with the initials EU (27) on Jalan Pattimura who was carrying one plastic containing 12.09 grams of marijuana, and three small plastics each containing 1.30 grams of marijuana, 1.57 grams, and 1.22 grams.

"The two perpetrators together with evidence are now being secured at the Jayawijaya Police Headquarters for further processing by the Narcotics Unit," he said.

Satriya emphasized that his party will continue to increase patrols and raids to suppress the circulation of narcotics in the jurisdiction of the Jayawijaya Police.

"We will not provide space for narcotics trafficking in Papua, especially in Jayawijaya. People are advised to stay away from drugs for a better future," he said.

He hopes that this arrest will have a deterrent effect on the perpetrators and serve as a warning to the public, especially youth, so as not to fall into narcotics abuse.
