Cak Imin Promises Extreme Poverty To End In 2026, People's Schools Are The Key

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin said the government targets extreme poverty alleviation to reach 0% by the end of 2026.

According to him, President Prabowo continues to seek breakthroughs, especially after studying the strategy and modeling methods of the previous government period, in order to tackle poverty quickly.

Cak Imin during his visit to the First Middle People's School 19 Kupang in Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, Wednesday, October 1, conveyed that the task of reducing extreme poverty continues to be optimized.

This is done so that the remaining time in the next eight months will reduce the extreme poverty rate by 0%.

"The declaration of the decline in extreme poverty in Indonesia is a 0% target in 2026 at the end," said Cak Imin in his remarks.

Therefore, Cak Imin views school development as a breakthrough in the field of education to alleviate poverty. He ensures the availability of facilities, such as dormitory rooms to classrooms that are used as teaching and learning.

Cak Imin explained that the government's efforts to increase the development of public schools were part of poverty alleviation strategies and the elimination of extreme poverty in the regions.

"This (people's schools) is a strategic program through education to break the chain of poverty and to those who have not had time to get public schools, be patient," said Cak Imin.

Coordinating Minister Muhaimin explained that public schools are an effort to accelerate poverty alleviation by providing free boarding education for children from poor families.

"We encourage and make efforts so that people's schools stand in all regencies, so that they reach more people in need. All regencies will be made public schools," he said.
