JAKARTA - Secret Service aka the agent of the United States Secret Service (US) dismantled a network of electronic devices that could cripple telecommunications systems to smartphones or cellphones in New York.

The network is also used to convey an anonymous death threats against senior US officials, including for criminal activities.

"These devices allow anonymous and encrypted communication between potential threat actors and criminal companies, allowing criminal organizations to operate undetected," New York's Head of Secret Service Field Office, Matt McCool, said in a video statement, quoted by NBC News.

"This network [also] has the potential to paralyze cell phone towers and basically cut off cellular networks in New York," he continued.

The dismantling of the network took place in five locations inside and around New York.

"These rediscovered devices are no longer a threat to the New York tristate region," McCol said.

Officers revealed, from five locations within a 35-mile radius of New York, Secret Service agents found more than 300 SIM servers and 100,000 SIM cards.

At the five demolition sites, 80 grams of cocaine, illegal firearms, computers, and cell phones were also found.

Another US Secret Service official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the network could also be used to disable EMS and police communications, as well as encrypted communications.

"This network can be used to disable cellular towers. This network can activate "denial of service" attacks, which basically means the network can block EMS or police from responding to a scene if necessary", said an official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

"This network can also be used to communicate anonymously and encrypted," he continued.

Officials said agents were tracking SIM cards to determine who created the network.

"We are tracing every call, every text message, every search made on the SIM card," said the US Secret Service official.
