Stopped By Police, Macron Trapped US President's Accompaniment, Immediately Call Trump

JAKARTA - An unexpected situation occurred in New York traffic when French President Emmanuel Macron was 'trapped' by the road closure due to US President Donald Trump's motorcade.

A New York City police officer stopped him as he was about to cross the road.

However, unlike most people who were annoyed, Macron then called Trump directly from the sidewalk to inform him of his condition.

"Sorry, President, I'm really sorry," said a policeman who looked embarrassed to Macron who was trying to cross the road with his delegation members.

"Currently everything is closed. There is a convoy of cars coming," the police said in a video as reported by Reuters, September 23.

"If you don't see it, let me cross. I negotiate with you," Macron joked.

Forced to wait at the barricades, Macron then called Trump.

"Try to guess - I'm waiting on the road because everything is closed to you," Macron said on the phone.

Sources close to the French president confirmed Macron spoke by telephone with Trump while walking. The conversation was warm and friendly, so they could discuss several international topics, the source said.

In the video circulating, Macron then continued his journey on the sidewalk with the delegation to the French Embassy in New York. He had met residents to take pictures together.
