Had Ordered, DKI Transportation Agency Allowed Again Parking On The Shoulder Of Jalan Major General Sutoyo Cawang

Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) Syafrin Liputo said that his party still allows on-street parking arrangements for two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles on Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo, Cawang, East Jakarta.

This location was previously put under control because it greatly disturbed the smooth running of traffic on the road. The reason is, the presence of traders and parking areas of visitor vehicles can operate three roads.

Although still allowed, Syafrin emphasized that parking arrangements for visitor vehicles and merchant spaces can only be done using one lane of Mayjen Sutoyo Street.

"Friends of traders have also agreed that at that location, there will be one parallel parking lot and a sink. So that it does not operate until three traffic lanes and then closes, only one lane remains," said Syafrin when met at the DKI Jakarta DPRD building, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, September 23.

Syafrin said this new arrangement had been running since Sunday, September 21 after the control. Transportation Service officers will also guard and regulate traffic every afternoon and at night at that point.

"Usually in the afternoon, yes, that afternoon at 17 o'clock it just started opening. And therefore we start at 16 o'clock there is already a team making arrangements, every day it is done," said Syafrin.

Previously, a viral video on social media showed allegations of illegal parking and traders using four lanes on Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo, Cawang, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, Saturday, September 20.

The video uploaded by the Instagram account @ijoeel shows a row of parking vehicles and traders holding tables leaving only one lane from four lanes.

The incident occurred every night from 20.00 WIB until midnight. It was seen that road users were hampered from passing through the lane of the road because the road was covered by a motorcycle parking lot and a merchant table.

"Parkir makanan empat jalur jalan umum, ini terjadi sudah lama infonya dan terjadi setiap malam sekitar pukul 20.00 WIB, sampai tengah malam," tulis keterangan dari akun Instagram @ijoeel.

"Moreover, on Sunday nights, where can you stay? This is around Primajasa Cililitan or the Head Office of the State Civil Service Agency," explained ijoeel's Instagram account.

Finally, joint officers brought order to illegal parking and installing excessive tables belonging to business actors at that location.

The control carried out with elements from the Transportation Service (Dishub), Garnisun, Koramil, Polsek, PPSU, and community groups on Sunday, September 21, followed complaints from the public regarding disturbances in public order in the area.

Budhy said that the road conditions were often chaotic, especially on weekends. Parking vehicles and tables installed on the road makes traffic flow only one to two lanes can pass.

"So that on Sunday night it was quite crowded, up to only one or two segments could be passed," he said.

In the operation, officers prioritize a persuasive approach by providing education so that traders can manage their business areas without harming other road users.

"We take an approach through education so that future arrangements can be made. In essence, we can minimize disturbances in order at this location," said Budhy.
