GORONTALO - A student from the Faculty of Social Sciences, Gorontalo State University (UNG) died while participating in basic educational activities (disar) students who loved nature (Mapala) on the campus.

The victim's brother Hidayat in Muna, Southeast Sulawesi, said that previously he received a call from the victim, Mohammad Jansen, on Sunday night (21/9), who informed him that he was sick.

"The deceased called me and said he was at the Mapala secretariat in a sick condition. He had asked the committee to be taken to the hospital but not allowed," Hidayat said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, September 22.

Knowing this condition, fellow associations took the initiative to immediately pick up and take his sister to the hospital.

He said that upon arrival at the Aloei Saboe Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Gorontalo City, his younger brother immediately received medical treatment, but not long after around 08.00 WITA, Mohammad Jansen was declared dead.

"What I know is that my sister did have a pain in the neck and could not get hit by a collision, but after I saw the photo after participating in the diksar activity, his neck condition had swollen," he said.

Bone Bolango Police Chief AKBP Supriantoro said his party received information regarding a student from UNG who died after attending Mapala's basic education in Tadadaa Village, Suwawa District, Bone Bolango Regency.

After receiving the information, he and the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit immediately came to the hospital, where at that time the student was in the morgue.

After coordinating with the community and the closest family of the student regarding further handling, the family finally agreed that they would not question the death of the student.

After an external post-mortem has been carried out from the hospital, the bodies of the students will be delivered to their hometowns in Wapunto Village, Duruka District, Muna Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province.

Previously, the Police had given space to the family if they objected to the death of the deceased, but when asked repeatedly, the family admitted that they would not mind this incident, and hoped that the deceased's body would be sent home for burial.

In the process of repatriating the student's body, the Police Chief also instructed his personnel to escort until the body arrived at the funeral home.

Regarding the implementation of the mapala diksar activity, the Police Chief said that his staff from the Resort Police to the local police admitted that they had never received a notification or request for a permit for the implementation of the activity.

"Currently, the body of the deceased is being carried out an external post-mortem. Then it is prepared to be dispatched to his hometown," he added.

Regarding this incident, it is planned that the UNG campus will hold a press conference on Tuesday (23/9), to explain the procedures and rules for implementing diksar for students.
