JAKARTA - The Dki Jakarta Tourism Office issued a letter of temporary closure of three tourist attractions from May 16-17. The closure was carried out after an evaluation of the increase in visitors at the site.

Tourist attractions in the capital that are closed are Ancol Dreamland, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, and Ragunan Wildlife Park. This letter was signed by Acting Head of Tourism and Creative Economy Office Gumilar Ekalaya on Saturday, May 15, 2021.

"Starting from May 16, 2021 until May 17, 2021 in order to temporarily close the business premises in order to strengthen health protocols," as quoted from the letter, Saturday, May 15.

Furthermore, these three businesses are again allowed to open on Tuesday, May 18.

In response to this letter, tmii manager will also conduct closure. TMII Head of Public Relations Adi Widodo confirmed this. "Right (Sunday tomorrow, red) closed," adi said when contacted VOI.

The closure is based on a letter from the Department of Tourism and Creative Economy that has been received by his party.

Previously, ragunan wildlife park managers also ensured that they would cease their operations for two days from Sunday, May 16 to Monday, May 17. Ragunan Wildlife Park Public Relations Chief Wahyudi Bambang confirmed that the tourist attraction will be reopened on Tuesday, May 18.

"Visitors who have registered online for Sunday visits are cancelled to visit Ragunan Wildlife Park," wahyudi said.

Previously, Chairman of the Task Force on Handling COVID-19 Doni Monardo urged the COVID-19 Task Force in the region to regulate or if necessary close tourist attractions that have the potential to become the center of virus transmission during the Eid al-Fitr holiday season.

In addition, he asked the local government to take the initiative not to make public activities in tourist attractions exceed the 50 percent limit, as advised by the central government.

"We expect all elements of the regional task force, including the Police must dare to make decisions, take regulatory steps. In fact, if necessary, if it endangers public safety it is better to close it," Doni said in a press conference posted on BNPB Indonesia's YouTube account, Saturday, May 15.

He asked the task force in the area to speak openly to the manager of the tourist attraction if closures should be carried out. So, the managers can understand and want to work together.

He asked all regions, without exception, to comply with the rules that have been made by the central government regarding the handling of COVID-19. Moreover, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has called the gas and brake suits in the handling of COVID-19 is appropriate at this time.
