BNPB: Floods In Kubu Raya And Karhurla In Aceh Have Been Handled By Officers

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has confirmed that flooding in Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan, and forest and land fires (karhutla) in West Aceh Regency, Aceh, have been handled by joint local officials.

Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari said, as many as 706 families or 2,396 people were affected by flooding in Pasak Piang Village, Sungai Ambawang District, Kubu Raya.

According to Abdul, the flood occurred due to heavy rains that flushed the area from 11-14 September 2025 and on Sunday the flood had gradually receded.

"Residents have started their activities as usual under the assistance of joint local officials," he explained in Jakarta, Antara, Monday, September 22.

Meanwhile, in Gampong Keub, Arongan Lambalek District, West Aceh Regency, forest and land fires (karhutla) reportedly burned an area of 8.8 hectares.

BNPB confirmed that joint BPBD officers and the West Aceh fire department must work hard to extinguish the fire so that the fire does not spread and it is certain that there were no casualties in the incident.

Abdul assessed that this incident proves that the government's preparedness with the local community is important; starting from ensuring evacuation routes from home, school, and workplace to safe gathering points, cutting trees prone to falling - cleaning waterways regularly to preparing outage equipment including standby bags containing basic needs, medicines, and documents or securities.

"Although most areas have entered the rainy season which has become flooded, forest and land fires are also still found and have the potential to have a significant impact," he said.
