TNI Takes Firm Action: Danpuspom Ensures 2 Soldiers Involved In The Case Of Penculikan Kareb Bank Sentenced

The Central Commander of the Military Police (Danpuspom) TNI Major General Yusri Nuryanto confirmed that two TNI soldiers suspected of being involved in the kidnapping of the head of an assistant branch of a bank in Central Jakarta would be punished according to applicable law.

"It has been handled by the Jaya Military Command (Kodam Military Police). Then, the order of the head of the process is in accordance with the applicable law," said Yusri in Jakarta, Antara, Monday, September 22.

No other soldier was involved in the kidnapping case that led to the murder.

"For other soldiers, no one is involved, while only those two are involved," he said.

The Military Police of Kodam Jaya previously named two members of the Army soldiers with the initials N and FH as suspects in the kidnapping of MIP (37), the head of an assistant branch of a bank in Central Jakarta.

In a press conference last Tuesday, the Military Police Commander of Kodam Jaya Colonel CPM Donny Agus Priyanto explained that the two soldiers were involved with other civilian suspects in exchange for up to Rp. 100 million.

The victim was found dead in Bekasi, West Java, the day after being kidnapped. At the time of the incident, the two soldiers were not present without permission (THTI) from their unit.

Head of the Army Information Service Brigadier General Wahyu Yudhayana said the two TNI AD soldiers suspected of being involved will soon be tried in an open military court.

"The stage is currently still being investigated as a suspect by the Military Police. After it is complete, the files will be transferred to the auditors, then to the military court which is held openly," Wahyu said in Jakarta, Saturday (20/9).

Wahyu menegaskan tanggung jawab kasus itu bersifat personal karena keduanya meninggalkan satuan tanpa izin. Meski sejumlah atasan dimintai keterangan, proses hukum lanjutan sepenuhnya menjadi tanggung jawab individu personel tersebut.

Wahyu emphasized that the responsibility for the case was personal because the two of them left the unit without permission. Although a number of superiors were asked for information, the follow-up legal process is entirely the responsibility of the individual personnel.
