TNI Personnel Hit Ojol In Pontianak, It's Peaceful But Still Being Processed

The Commander of the Central Military Police (Danpuspom) TNI Maj. Gen. Yusri Nuryanto ensured that the investigation of TNI soldiers with the initials Letda AF would continue despite making peace with online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol) in Pontianak City, West Kalimantan.

"Both parties have reconciled, but the investigation process is ongoing," said Yusri in Jakarta, Antara, Monday, September 22.

Yusri confirmed the beating incident by Lieutenant AF against an ojol driver in Pontianak last week. He suspected that the incident was triggered by a moment of emotion on the highway.

"This perpetrator may have been emotional or something so that there was a beating. Actually it's not allowed," he said.

He appealed to the TNI ranks to avoid misunderstandings with the community that led to violence. According to him, routine unit commanders remind members not to disagree with civilians.

Previously, Deputy Head of Information for Kodam XII/Tanjungpura Lieutenant Colonel Infantry Agung W. Palupi said the Military Police of Kodam (Pomdam) XII/Tanjungpura would legally process the AF Ltda to the military court.

"The legal process will continue to the military court. Let's fully trust the applicable mechanism," said Agung in Sungai Raya, West Kalimantan, last Sunday.

According to Agung, the incident occurred on Saturday at 14.00 WIB on Jalan Seruni, Panglima Aim, East Pontianak. After the incident, dozens of ojol colleagues came to the Pomdam XII/Tanjungpura Headquarters to ask for accountability.

"We moved quickly, the perpetrators were immediately arrested," he said.

He added, based on the initial examination, Lieutenant AF panicked because he was about to take his sick son to the hospital. At that time, his car collided with the victim's motorbike, triggering emotions and beatings.

The perpetrator was in a hurry and confused condition. His son was sick in the car. There was a small incident on the road, then emotions peaked until there was a beating," said Agung.

Agung menegaskan penyelidikan masih berjalan untuk memastikan kronologi secara menyeluruh. Proses hukum tetap dijalankan sebagai bentuk ketegasan TNI menegakkan aturan terhadap anggotanya.

Agung emphasized that the investigation is still ongoing to ensure a comprehensive chronology. The legal process is still being carried out as a form of TNI's firmness in enforcing the rules for its members.
