The police are investigating the collapse of a lobby building over the Integrated Government Office (KPT) building in Brebes Regency, Central Java, which occurred on Sunday.

Brebes Police Chief AKBP Lilik Ardiansyah said police lines had been installed around the scene.

"Police officers are installed around the location to maintain a safe distance and anticipate that aftershocks occur," said Lilik in Brebes, Antara, Sunday, September 21.

Thus, he continued, the community could still move around the scene. Investigations will be carried out to determine the cause of the collapse of the building. Even so, it takes time to carry out the investigation.

As for the 2 injured victims in the incident, they were rushed to the hospital. Two victims, all of them are workers who are renovating the building," he said.

He said that one victim was reported to have suffered serious injuries to his hands.

Lilik has not been able to explain in more detail the cause of the collapse of the lobby building of the Brebes Regency Government.

Head of the Brebes District Public Works Agency Sutaryono said the collapse of the terrace of the Integrated Government Office (KPT) building occurred when it was repaired.

The KPT building was only completed in 2022 with a contract value of Rp110 billion and was inaugurated on August 31, 2022. The Integrated Government Office Building has been insured.

"Tomorrow (Monday, 22/9) the insurance team will go directly to the location to check the damage to the building," he said.

Sutaryono said that in the long term, there will be a technical study so that similar incidents do not happen again.

As for the victims, all of them have been taken to the hospital.

"The government will pay for the medical expenses. We apologize for what happened today," he said.
