Tragedy In Elelim: Missing Victim Nasir Daeng Mappa Found Dead With Full Body

JAYAPURA Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Cahyo Sukarnito, said that Nasir Daeng Mappa's body, which was previously declared missing during the riots in Elelim, Yalimo Regency, Papua Mountains, was found dead.

Nasir's body, Dafa's parents who were also victims of persecution, was found behind Camp Paesa located in Benawa on September 20, 2025.

"The victim was found with a body full of arrows," said Cahyo Sukarnito in Jayapura, Antara, Sunday, September 21.

Cahyo explained, Nasir Daeng Mappa was reported missing since Tuesday, September 16 after his son and nephew were found near Camp Paesa, Benawa, Yalimo Regency.

At the time of the incident, the four-wheeled vehicle he was driving was burned and the victim and her two children tried to escape.

The two children, Dafa and Amiva, were found by the driver of the Jayapura-Wamena route with full body wounds of sharp objects, while Nasir Daeng Mappa was not found. After being helped by the driver, both of them were evacuated and are now being treated at Bhayangkara Jayapura Hospital.

"When members conducted TKP and sweeping at Camp Paesa on September 19, they did not find any victims, but found another victim, Muhamad Rusli, who works as a driver," said Cahyo.

In the next search on September 20, the team found Nasir Daeng Mappa's body and evacuated him to Elelim.

"The plan is that Nasir Daeng Mappa's body will be evacuated to Sentani and then flown to Makassar to be buried in his hometown. But when the delivery is made, they are still waiting for information from Elelim," said Cahyo.
