JAKARTA - The Ministry of Human Rights (KemenHAM) asked the Polda Metro Jaya to facilitate access to visits to activists detained after an anarchist demonstration a few days ago.
According to the Director General of Human Rights Services and Compliance at the Ministry of Human Rights, Munafrizal Manan, the status of the suspect in incitement to these activists did not immediately eliminate their right to receive a visit.
"If the disclosure (of the visit access) has actually become the basic principle," Munafrizal told reporters, Thursday, September 18.
Semua orang yang ditahan dengan status sebagai tersangka, bahkan terdakwa ditegaskan Munafrizal berhak diberi akses hukum.
"I think the police will certainly give the opportunity," he said.
"In principle, the ease of access must be given, because it is also part of human rights. But of course I will communicate later, coordinate with Polda Metro Jaya to encourage that convenience," he said.
Polda Metro Jaya denied accusations by the family that access to activists detained was made difficult by the police.
Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Brigadier General Ade Ary Syam Indradi said there were rules for visits to activists who had been named suspects for incitement to causing chaos in the demonstration.
"There are rules, yes, there are procedures, there are visiting hours. It's not (it's difficult)," said Ade Ary in response to the press at Polda Metro Jaya, Thursday.

As previously reported, the family and legal assistants of the suspect incitement to a demonstration complained about the closed access to visits or visits of activists being detained at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters.
The brother of activist Syahdan Hussein (Admin Instagram Gejayan Calling), Sizigia Pikhansa told reporters at Polda Metro Jaya, Wednesday (17/9), saying that the closed access affected Syahdan's condition.
"Families and legal assistants are prohibited and it is difficult to visit Syahdan. It also makes Syahdan psychologically disturbed, meaning, he cannot get emotional or psychological assistance," said Sizigia.
The four activists arrested were Delpedro Marhaen (Director of Lokataru Foundation), Muzaffar Salim (Lokataru staff), Syahdan Husein (Admin Gejayan Calling) and Khariq Anhar (Admin of the Plaintiff Student Alliance).
They were accused of being involved in the alleged incitement of anarchist acts at a demonstration in front of the DPR/MPR Building on August 25.
The police said that the four of them used social media (medsos) to spread demonstration invitations that were deemed to have the potential to cause riots.
