Central Java Police continue to intensify the Cheap Market Movement (GPM) to help people meet basic needs in the midst of fluctuations in food prices. In collaboration with Bulog, these activities are carried out routinely every morning at the Central Java Police Ditreskrimsus Headquarters, Jl. Sukun Raya, Banyumanik, Semarang City, and held simultaneously at all police ranks.
In the GPM which was held at Mako Ditreskrimsus, Thursday, September 18, morning, SPHP rice was provided at an affordable price of Rp. 11 thousand per kilogram. One package of @5 kg SPHP rice sells for Rp. 55 thousand. Every day it is targeted to distribute 2.5 tons of rice. If the public interest increases, the amount will be increased to 5 tons per day.
Responding to this activity, the Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Police, Kombes Artanto, in his statement at the Central Java Police Headquarters, emphasized that this activity was in line with the role of the National Police as the protector of the community.
"The Cheap Market Movement is not only a matter of distributing rice, but also a form of Polri's concern for the welfare of the people. We encourage the Food Task Force in each region to synergize with Bulog so that people can buy basic necessities at affordable prices," said Kombes Artanto, in a written statement received, Thursday, September 18.

The GPM program itself has been routinely held since August 2025 in various regions of Central Java. The goal is to maintain food availability, especially for low-income people, and support national policies in controlling inflation.
"The rice distributed is part of the Ministry of Trade's SPHP Program, which is supplied directly from Bulog's warehouse," he continued.
Artanto added that the Central Java Regional Police gave appreciation to Bulog and local governments for facilitating the running of this program. With the presence of a sustainable cheap market, the people of Central Java are expected to be more helped in meeting their basic daily needs, as well as strengthening a sense of togetherness between the Police and residents.
"We hope that a similar program can continue to be rolled out in the future as a form of synergy between the security forces and the government in maintaining food security. We also urge the public to immediately report if they find indications of abuse in the distribution of this rice," he concluded.
