Workers Died Of Electrocution While Fixing Neon Boxes In Pekanbaru

PEKANBARU - A construction worker was found dead in a car on Jalan Soekarno Hatta, Pekanbaru City. The incident occurred on Sunday, September 14 evening.

Head of Pekanbaru SAR Office Ops and Alert, Benteng Hilton Telaumbanua said the victim was Andi. The victim was working to repair the neon box car.

"The victim was working to repair the lights in the neon box. At 22.00 WIB the victim's friend tried to call, but there was no answer," said Benteng, Monday, September 15.

While the victim was working, it was raining quite hard. After being seen in the neon box, it turned out that the victim was not moving. The victim was suspected of having an electric shock and was immediately caught on the sidelines of the car.

"The victim's position depends and is face down in the neon box. We who received the report immediately moved to the location to evacuate the victim. When it was found the victim was dead," continued Benteng.

The process of evacuating victims took a long time because of its position in the neon box. "The evacuation process is estimated to take 1.5 hours because the neon box construction is quite high," he concluded.

Currently, the victim's body has been handed over to the family and the case is still under investigation by the authorities.
