Commission III Of The DPR Does Not Know About The Surpres Of The Substitution Of The National Police Chief

JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the DPR, Nasir Djamil responded to the news that the Palace had sent a presidential letter (Surpres) regarding the replacement of the Chief of Police of the Republic of Indonesia or the National Police Chief to the House of Representatives (DPR). However, Nasir admitted that he had not even seen the information regarding the existence of the Surpres in the DPR.

"We don't know the truth yet, we ourselves haven't received any news regarding the Presidential Decree to the DPR in terms of changing the police chief," said Nasir Djamil when confirmed, Saturday, September 13.

Even if there is, Nasir continued, the Surpres to change the National Police Chief has indeed become the authority of the president.

"From the law, it is stated that the appointment and dismissal of or dismissal of the National Police Chief is by the president with the approval of the DPR. So, even if there is a letter, it is in accordance with the law," he said.

"But whether the letter exists or not, well that's what we haven't got. We haven't received valid news about it yet," he added.

Including the name of the candidate for National Police Chief to replace Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Nasir also admitted that he did not know.

"So are the names that spread. They said there was an initial D, there was an initial S. We don't understand who it is. So, is it the current vice president? Or is S Suyudi, the current head of BNN? We don't understand," said Nasir.

"The point is that we have not been able to validate this matter. But once again that is the authority of the president," he added.

Even so, the PKS politician assessed that there should be regeneration at the helm of the National Police.

"And indeed, if we look at the age of leadership, Pak Sigit is almost 4 years old. And this already needs regeneration, right at the helm of the police," concluded Nasir.

Previously, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo emphasized that the change of the National Police Chief was the prerogative of President Prabowo Subianto.

This was conveyed by Listyo in response to the push to withdraw after the incident of beating an ojol driver by Rantis Brimob during the final demonstration last August.

"Regarding the issue related to the National Police Chief, it is the prerogative of the president. We soldiers are ready at any time," said the National Police Chief, Saturday, August 30.

As is known, Listyo has served as the National Police Chief since President Joko Widodo's administration, precisely since 2021.
