Former NTB Dikbud Official Netted OTT Illegal Charges Project Sentenced To 5 Years In Prison

The panel of judges sentenced former West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Education and Culture Office (Dikbud) official Ahmad (NTB) to five years in prison in a case of illegal project levies.

"The defendant Ahmad Muslim was sentenced to five years in prison," said Chief Judge Glorious Anggundoro reading out Ahmad Muslim's decision during a trial at the Corruption Court at the Mataram District Court, NTB, Friday, which was confiscated by Antara.

The defendant who was caught by OTT in the position of Head of Vocational School at the NTB Education and Culture Office was also sentenced to a fine of Rp. 50 million, subsidiary to two months in prison for a fine.

The judge in the verdict stated that the defendant's actions had violated Article 12 letter e of Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.

The evidence of OTT in the form of cash of Rp. 50 million was determined by the judge to be confiscated as a substitute for state financial losses.

This sentence is considered higher than the prosecutor's demand, which previously asked the panel of judges to sentence him to 2 years and 6 months in prison.

In a series of trials, the prosecutor presented dozens of witnesses ranging from government officials, schools, experts, including those who were victims of extortion and former Head of the NTB Dikbud Service, Aidy Furqan.

Ahmad Muslim was caught OTT of the Mataram City Police on December 11, 2024 while making a transaction in the Head of SMK of the NTB Education and Culture Office.

This was reinforced by the finding of cash Rp50 million in envelope greetings bearing the name of the company PT Utama Putramas Mandiri.

In fact, the suspect's trial was revealed to have withdrawn money from the company as a form of administrative fee with a percentage of up to 10 percent of the project value.

The project that is the object of this case is related to the procurement of goods at a SMK in Mataram City.
