MEDAN - North Sumatra Police tightened the supervision of all tourist attractions in anticipation of the increasing number of cases of the spread of COVID-19 during the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
Chief of Police Sumut Irjen Panca Putra said that together with TNI officials, COVID-19 handling units, regional disaster management agencies, health offices, and PP police conducted surveillance of tourist attractions.
"We conduct extra strict surveillance on every visitor who comes to the tourist attraction in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus," he was quoted as saying by Antara, Thursday, May 13.
Under such surveillance, officers ensure the application of strict health protocols to visitors, such as wearing masks, keeping distance, and avoiding crowds.
Officers will impose strict sanctions against people who do not comply with health protocols.
"Do not let the large number of visitors who come to the tourist attraction give rise to a new cluster of COVID-19," he said.
He hopes that in the momentum of Eid al-Fitr 1442 Hijri people avoid friendly activities, such as visiting the homes of relatives. It is feared that this will increase the spread of COVID-19 due to health protocol neglect.
"It's best to have a virtual or online relationship," he said.
