JAKARTA - Secretary of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Augustinus said DKI Jakarta DPRD Chairman Khoirudin would consult with the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian to discuss plans to reduce the amount of housing allowances for council members.

According to Augustinus, housing allowances with a high nominal value are not only accepted by members of the DKI Jakarta DPRD. In fact, there are provinces with a larger value.
"The highest is not in DKI, the highest is first in Central Java. Central Java is up to Rp79 million, we (DKI) are Rp78 million. Therefore, the association will have an audience with the Minister for what is next for housing allowances for all DPRDs throughout Indonesia," said Augustinus.
Thus, Augustinus emphasized that consultation with the Minister of Home Affairs is needed so that every provincial DPRD has a clear measure in determining the amount of allowance they get.
"Because this is a general regulation. Actually, it can't be immediately (submitted), yes. There must also be binding regulations so that it's not wrong. So far, the housing allowances have been there," he said.
