Bali Floods, 6 People Still Missing, 474 Kiosks-Ruko Damaged

DENPASAR - Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Lt. Gen. Suharyanto said 6 people were still missing in the flood disaster in Bali.

Currently, 9 people have died in several areas that were hit by floods.

"For Bali itself, as of tonight, there are 9 people who died. Then there are 6 people who are still missing," said Lt. Gen. Suharyanto when after attending a flood coordination meeting in Kerta Sabha, Bali Governor's Office House, Denpasar, Wednesday, September 10.

The joint team led by Basarnas Bali has deployed more than 100 personnel to conduct searches until tonight.

"There are 6 people missing. But starting tomorrow at 7 am, we will start looking for them again, until the 6 people who are still missing will be found," he added.

As a result of the flood, hundreds of kiosks and shophouses were reported to have been damaged.

"Indeed, what stands out is that it is not a community home. But what is damaged by hundreds are small kiosks and shop houses in the market, there are 474 units of which. But if there are not many people's houses (which are damaged)," he said.

"Then other infrastructure such as roads there are some landslides, bridges are also damaged. But earlier we agreed that starting today and tomorrow onwards it will be repaired, a technical meeting will be held for repairs. So we agreed tonight, which one will be repaired by the local government, in this case, which districts, cities and provinces will be repaired by the central government through the BNPB and the relevant ministries of institutions," he explained.

BNPB also coordinates with BMKG. In recent days, it is predicted that it will rain due to the Rossby-Kelvin wave.

"So what we really have to intervene in is East Java, Central Java and West Java. And we have also coordinated with regional heads in the three provinces to immediately be prepared and carry out weather modification operations," he said.
