VOI Today: Not Accepting Called Demo Riots, TNI General Will Report Ferry Irwandi To The Police

JAKARTA - A number of TNI generals plan to report content creator and Founder of Malacca Project Ferry Irwandi to the police on suspicion of defamation. The beginning of this issue is thought to have originated from a discussion on a national television station. In the event, Ferry Irwandi broadcast a video showing a rioter in a demonstration last August having a TNI membership card.

On Monday, September 8, the Commander of the TNI Cyber Unit Brigadier General Juinta Omboh Sembiring, along with three other high-ranking officials, visited the Polda Metro Jaya. On Tuesday, September 9, the Deputy Director of Polda Metro Jaya AKBP Fian Yunus revealed that there were legal obstacles in this reporting plan. The TNI's move to criminalize Ferry drew strong criticism from the Civil Society Coalition, consisting of various institutions such as Amnesty International, Imparsial, Setara Institute, ICJR, KontraS and many more.
