Giving The COVID-19 Vaccine During Eid Al-Fitr, Second Dose Recipients Do Not Need To Panic

JAKARTA - COVID-19 Vaccination Spokeswoman from the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, called the COVID-19 vaccination on holiday during Eid al-Fitr 1442 Hijri or on Thursday, May 13, tomorrow.

The provision of COVID-19 vaccine in health facilities will resume on Saturday, May 15, or H+2 of Eid.

Even so, this holiday will not interfere with the course of the vaccination process. Especially, for people whose vaccination schedule both coincide with Eid al-Fitr.

Nadia said that the administration of the vaccine will only be delayed for one to two days and this will not affect the formation of antibodies against COVID-19.

Previously reported, based on data from the Ministry of Health as of Wednesday, May 12, there were 13,678,323 people who had received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 8,909,265 second dose vaccinations. Meanwhile, the total vaccination target of phase 1 and 2 reached 40,349,049 people.

The COVID-19 vaccination program is conducted to cause herd immunity in the community. Those eligible for the vaccine are people aged 18 and over. The recipients of the vaccine will get twice the injection dose.

Overall, this national vaccination will be conducted from April 2021 to March 2022 and consists of several stages.

In the first phase, the vaccine is intended for 1.5 million health workers. In the second phase, COVID-19 vaccination is intended for elderly groups and public service personnel. The target is 21.5 million elderly and 16.9 million pubic officers.

They are market traders, educators, religious figures and extensionists, representatives of the people, officials, government, Civil servants, TNI-Police, tourism officers, public services, public transportation workers, athletes, and media workers. The program runs until May.

Furthermore, vaccination will be carried out to 63.9 million vulnerable people or residents living in areas with a high risk of transmission. Then, the other community of 77.7 million people.
