3 Suspects Of Bribery For Procurement Of Catalysts For Mixed Fuel Substances In Pertamina With Orange Vests For KPK Prisoners

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) detained three suspects in the bribery case related to the procurement of catalysts within PT Pertamina (Persero) today. One of them is Gunardi Wantjik (GW) as Director of PT Melanton Pratama (PT MP).

The catalyst is an important substance in the manufacture of fuel, which functions to reduce sulfur levels in a production of engine fuel (BBM). This product is said to greatly affect the quality of fuel used daily by the community.

"KPK is making efforts to force the detention of three suspects," said Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur Rahayu at a press conference at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, September 9.

Apart from Gunardi, the KPK also detained Frederick Aldo Gunardi (FAG) as an employee at PT Melanton Pratama; and Alvin Pradipta Adiyota (APA) as a private party. The three of them will be detained for the first 20 days, starting from 9-28 September 2025 at the KPK branch detention center at the Merah Putih K4 building and the KPK branch detention center building C1.

This case began when PT MP used the name Albemarle Corp, which was part of the Albermarle Pte Ltd, to participate in a catalyst procurement tender at PT Pertamina. However, this company failed to pass the ACE Test test.

The result made Frederick Aldo Gunardi on the orders of Alvin Pradipta Adiyota as his colleague asking Chrisna Damayanto (CD) as the Managing Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) to carry out the occupancy.

Asep explained that this process was intended so that PT MP could participate in the tender for Catalytic Cracking (RC) catalyst products at RU VI Balongan.

"Due to this conditioning, Chrisna Damayanto finally made a policy to abolish the obligation to pass the ACE Test for catalyst products, which made PT MP the winner of the catalyst procurement in Balongan for the 2013-2014 period with a contract value of 14.4 million US dollars," he said.

Asep said, after being elected as the winner of the catalyst procurement, PT MP then gave some fees originating from Albermarle Corp to Chrisna Damayanto. Nila reached Rp1.7 billion during the 2013-2015 period.

"The receipt of the fee is suspected to be related to policy making by Chrisna, which is contrary to her duties and obligations as Director of Processing at PT Pertamina," said Asep, who also serves as Director of KPK Investigations.

As a result of his actions, Gunardi Wantjik and Frederick Aldo Gunardi as the givers were suspected of violating Article 5 Paragraph (1) letter a or letter b of the PTPK Law jo. Article 55 Paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.

Meanwhile, Alvin Pradipta Adiyota as the recipient is suspected of violating Article 12 letter a or Article 12 letter b or Article 11 Jo Article 55 paragraph (1) 1 of the Criminal Code.
