JAKARTA - The Ministry of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) submitted an additional budget proposal of IDR 2.1 trillion for 2026. This additional fund is directed to strengthen the placement and protection program of Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) abroad.

Minister of P2MI Abdul Kadir Karding explained that the largest allocation was focused on the development of Migrant Center, training on competency improvement, education on job opportunities abroad, optimizing complaint services, and improving facilities in 23 service units of the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Service Center (BP3MI).

According to Karding, the proposal has been submitted through letter number T/S.1520/01/PR.05.02/VIII/2025 dated August 5, 2025 with a total additional budget of IDR 2,178,339,336,000.

In detail, the proposed additional budget consists of: the Secretariat General amounting to Rp670.38 billion, the Inspectorate General Rp36.32 billion, the Directorate General of P3KLN Rp837.15 billion, the Directorate General of Placement Rp381.03 billion, the Directorate General of Protection Rp232.21 billion, the Directorate General of Empowerment Rp315.52 billion and the BP3MI Rp252.04 billion.

The existing budget ceiling for 2026 is IDR 546.33 billion, with details of IDR 69.78 billion for PMI placement, protection and empowerment programs, and IDR 476.55 billion for management support including personnel, operational, and non-operational office spending.
