JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung announced that the Transjakarta and MRT Jakarta service rates are now back to normal. During the previous week, Pramono made free or set a tariff of Rp1 for Transjakarta and MRT services after the riots caused by the demonstration at the end of last August.
This was revealed by Pramono in the inauguration of the Sentral Senen Bus Stop, which is now changed to the Jakarta Bus Stop after the repair.
"As I said, no more than seven days, it has returned to normal. And today I apologize, the tariff has also returned to normal," said Pramono at the Jakarta Guard Stop, Senen, Central Jakarta, Monday, September 8.
As a result of the inclusion of public transportation services managed by regional-owned enterprises (BUMD) DKI, the DKI Provincial Government must increase the transportation subsidy budget to tens of billions of rupiah.
"We have to provide transportation subsidies because it was free of around Rp. 18 billion until this week," said Pramono.
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government noted that 22 Transjakarta bus stops, both in the corridor (BRT) and non-BRT, were affected. 6 of them were burned by an unknown crowd. Then, 16 bus stops were damaged and scribbled on due to vandalism.
Meanwhile, currently all Transjakarta services have been operating normally. This includes the stops that were burned and damaged again while repairs were being carried out.
On that occasion, Pramono explained the reason why Jaga Jakarta was chosen as the new name for the Central Senen Bus Stop. Pramono wants the Jakarta Guard Stop to be a reminder to all parties not to let public facilities be damaged when riots occur in the capital city.
This movement was originally campaigned by the ranks of the DKI Provincial Government and regional-owned enterprises (BUMD) after a number of public facilities were damaged and burned by an unknown crowd during a series of demonstrations at the end of last August.
"This change is of course with the intention that we all protect Jakarta together. It is impossible to keep Jakarta only carried out by the government without the involvement of the community's participation completely," Pramono explained.

Pramono revealed that the Jakarta Guard bus stop serves around 10 thousand passengers every day. With a fairly large volume of Transjakarta customers, Pramono ensures that facilities at this bus stop can be reused.
"If you look at the volume, it's huge. All supporting facilities start from places to pray, then people sell, toilets, everything is well prepared," he explained.
