JAKARTA - Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia Santo Darmosumarto appreciated the Mondulkiri Provincial Police, Cambodia, which moved quickly to secure Indonesian citizens (WNI).

This was conveyed by the Ambassador Santo when meeting with the Head of the Mondulkiri Provincial Police, Major General Major General Lor Sokha.

Ambassador Santo expressed his appreciation for the quick response of the Mondulkiri Police in responding to the request of the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh to secure Indonesian citizens who work in online fraud syndicates.

"We ask for the support of the Cambodian government so that the deportation process for Indonesian citizens can be carried out quickly," said Ambassador Santo in a statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh, September 5.

In response, Major General Lor Sokha conveyed the commitment of the Mondulkiri Provincial Police to continue to ensure that the province is safe and comfortable, both for local residents and foreign nationals.

During this visit, the Indonesian Ambassador and Indonesian Embassy staff Phnom Penh saw firsthand the condition of 13 Indonesian citizens who were carrying out the immigration process, before being given permission by the Cambodian authorities to return to their homeland.

In general, all Indonesian citizens are in good condition. Food and medicine assistance for the Indonesian citizens is also handed over.

The Indonesian Ambassador reminded Indonesian citizens not to be easily tempted by the lure of big salaries. The hope is that the experiences of Indonesian citizens in Cambodia can be transmitted to their relatives, friends, and communities of their origin. Do not let other Indonesian citizens get caught in the same problem," said Ambassador Santo.

Based on data from the Cambodian authorities, the number of Indonesian citizens registered in Cambodia continues to grow, after 131,000 people at the end of last year.

"The increasing number of Indonesian citizens in Cambodia should be able to contribute positively to the local environment and build an image of Indonesia in the eyes of various people in Cambodia," said Ambassador Santo.
