The House Of Representatives Asks The Ministry Of Public Works To Immediately Set Aside The Budget For Improvement Of Post-Demo Public Facilities

Commission V DPR RI asked the Ministry of Public Works (PU) to allocate a budget and move quickly to repair damage to public facilities after the demonstrations that occurred in a number of areas.

For your information, some time ago there was a massive demonstration, starting on August 25, 2025. Then, it continued on August 28 and claimed lives. The action heats up and lasts until August 31.

Chairman of Commission V of the House of Representatives Lasarus said that the repair of public facilities is urgent so that community activities are not disrupted and public services can run normally again.

"Mr. Minister (PU Dody Hanggodo) please set aside the budget from the Ministry of Public Works from any source to immediately build public facilities that have been damaged so that the wheels of government in the regions run normally again," he said in a meeting with the government with Commission V DPR, at the DPR Building, Jakarta, written Friday, September 5.

"Because the wheels of the local government are part of the wheels of this country's government, sir. So that everything goes back to normal," he continued.

Previously, PU Minister Dody Hanggodo said that his party had prepared a budget of around Rp900 billion to rehabilitate public facilities throughout Indonesia damaged by demonstrations at the end of August 2025.

This was conveyed by Dody when he visited the location of the Pejompongan Toll Gate (GT) in Jakarta, Tuesday, September 2.

"The total cost of all of Indonesia yesterday was almost Rp900 billion," said Dody.

Dody said the budget would be allocated to repair damaged public facilities, such as toll gates, bus stops, DPRD buildings to Transjakarta and MRT bus stops.

"We take the first point, the main thing is the toll gate. Because, right, the toll road is passed almost every day by all of our colleagues and Transjakarta bus stops and MRT are affected," he said.

"We will also renovate the DPRD buildings throughout Indonesia," he continued

Loss Of Damage To Public Facilities In Jakarta Reaches IDR 50.4 Billion

Damage to public facilities ranging from MRT Jakarta station, Transjakarta bus stop, to CCTV due to recent demonstrations caused losses of Rp50.4 billion.

Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian revealed that the losses of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) consisted of Rp3.3 billion for MRT, Rp41.6 billion for Transjakarta facilities, and Rp5.5 billion for CCTV.

Tito said that this action initially took place at the DPR RI Building on August 25, the masses demanded the cancellation of the increase in allowances for members of the DPR, transparency of the DPR salaries and allowances, and rejection of the RKUHP.

The action, continued Tito, continued until August 28, and was heating up after the death toll.

"The point continues until the August 28 action and an incident occurred which caused the situation to heat up, namely an online motorcycle taxi driver who was run over by the police horses, and triggered a hotter action in various regions," Tito said at a regional inflation meeting in 2025, Selesa, September 2.

Tito said his party had recorded 107 action points in 32 provinces since August 25, 2025. Apart from Jakarta, the affected area is South Sulawesi. There was a burning of the Makassar City DPRD building which left three people dead and five others injured.

Then, the Solo DPRD Secretariat office was also burned down. Then the Grahadi building in Surabaya was burned, 11 police posts were heavily damaged or burned. In Kediri City, the DPRD building was burned and looted, and the Kediri City Police Traffic Unit office was thrown, and the evidence was damaged.

"If we look at the data from DKI Jakarta, Makassar City, Surakarta, Surabaya, Kediri both DPRD and the Office of the Regency Government, Mataram NTB, Bandung, Semarang, Brebes, Pekalongan, Tegal, Cilacap, Kediri, Kebumen, Jepara, Malang, Cirebon, Banyumas, Banjar, Jambi, Tasikmalaya, Palembangdan Palopo, damaged the DPRD offices and public facilities," said Tito.
