Dedi Mulyadi Invites Chancellors Throughout West Java, Absorbs Campus Aspirations In The Aftermath Of A Series Of Demos

JAKARTA - West Java (Jabar) Governor Dedi Mulyadi or Demul held an audience with university rectors from all over West Java at Gedung Sate, Bandung, Wednesday, September 3.

This meeting was held to absorb aspirations and respond to various conditions and events that have recently occurred in the campus environment and issues related to student activities at demonstrations.

"Today we met with rectors throughout the province of West Java who basically want to listen to the main ideas, ideas, and academic orientations to improve governance, especially I am in West Java Province, but if we convey it to the central government," said Dedi at Gedung Sate Bandung, confiscated by Antara.

Demul highlighted a number of incidents involving students, including information he received such as students carrying Molotov, drugs, and even firearms.

"I will meet with the authorities for identification. (The information is) someone is carrying a firearm, he said, someone is carrying a Molotov cocktail, someone is carrying drugs, some are wearing them, right, there are various, some are pure activists," he said.

He emphasized the importance of identifying the difference between students who really fight for the interests of the people and those involved in criminal acts.

'Later we will separate which students who are activists are purely fighting for the interests of the people, which ones are criminals. We will have to separate them in two, right," said Demul.

He also said that as governor, he has a responsibility like parents for all parties, including students.

"The name of young people, their names are students, there must be actions that are enthusiastic about the spirit of young people," he said.

Demul added that he would soon meet with a number of parties to understand further the root of the problems that occurred.

"I don't know exactly yet, yes, I don't know exactly what the main problem is. But the most important thing is that this climate must be maintained properly. We also have to protect young people, the apparatus must also protect and protect them, because the authorities should not become victims of mass chaos," he said.

Demonstrations in several regions in Indonesia in the last few days have ended in chaos.

In Bandung due to the demonstration on August 29-30, 2025, at least the buildings consisting of the assets of the MPR RI on Jalan Diponegoro, the Sambara restaurant, one resident's house on Jalan Gempol, and two bank offices on Jalan Ir H Djuanda, West Java DPRD Building, 10 motorbikes, other food stalls, and infrastructure under the Pasupati bridge were damaged.
