Masses Burn NTB DPRD Building, Police Ask For Information From The Chair And Staff For Investigation

The Mataram City Police summoned the Chairman of the West Nusa Tenggara Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) Isvie Rupaeda regarding the handling of the building that was burned during a demonstration on Saturday, August 30.

"So, the follow-up, next Monday, we ask the Chairperson of the NTB DPRD to be present to provide information regarding the burning of the NTB DPRD building," said Head of the Mataram Police Satreskrim AKP Regi Halili in Mataram, Antara, Wednesday, September 3.

In addition to the chairman of the NTB DPRD, the police also need information from the NTB DPRD ranks and witnesses in the field.

"The ranks (DPRD NTB), security guards, witnesses at the location, we will ask for information," he said.

He said this request for information was part of the police's need to determine the status of case handling.

"This is a necessity in raising it later to an investigation. So, we have to get information, especially from the Chairperson of the NTB DPRD and the ranks related to the responsibility of the building," he said.

From the information from the chairman of the NTB DPRD and his staff, he continued, the police will seek losses that arise from the incident of burning the building during the demonstration.

"Because the investigation is up, there must be a loss value first. What is the value, what is burned and how to follow up," said Regi.

He explained that the handling of this case is still ongoing at the investigation stage. One of the completeness of the files has been obtained by the police, namely the results of the crime scene (TKP).

From the results of the crime scene, Regi stated that his party had concluded that the handling of this case led to the investigation of the role of the perpetrator of the burning of the building.

"The direction of the investigation is to who set the fire," he said.

The police concluded this by strengthening the evidence from the examination of CCTV footage and community video.

"So, this is not a spontaneous reaction, there is no spontaneous burning, it must be consciously burning. We have video evidence for that," he said.

In a number of video recordings, he said, the police had found a series of burning buildings.

"We have a video of how they burn. There are some who burn from below and some throw them with bottles," said Regi.

Furthermore, Regi acknowledged that the burning of the NTB DPRD building in the demonstration was due to a weak number of security with more mass actions than personnel in the field.

"So, the assistance was because there were two points of demonstration. Security assistance came to the NTB DPRD when the action came," he said.
