As Inactive Members of DPR, PAN Faction Stops Paying Eko Patrio and Uya Kuya Salaries and Allowances

JAKARTA - The National Mandate Party (PAN) faction of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) has officially submitted a request for the remission of all rights attached to their positions, including salaries, allowances, and facilities, for inactive DPR members Eko Hendro Purnomo (Eko Patrio) and Surya Utama (Uya Kuya), to be processed through the DPR RI Secretariat General and the Ministry of Finance.

"The PAN faction has requested that the rights in the form of salaries, allowances, and other facilities attached to the positions of inactive DPR RI members be terminated for the duration of their status," said Putri Zulkifli Hasan, Chairwoman of the PAN DPR RI faction, to reporters on Wednesday, September 3.

"This is a form of the PAN faction's responsibility in maintaining accountability and public trust," she continued.

The provision that guarantees these salaries and allowances is part of an effort to maintain the dignity of the DPR RI while ensuring that the use of the state budget is carried out according to regulations.

"Of course, while still prioritizing a fair, transparent process and following official mechanisms," said Putri.

As is known, Eko Patrio and Uya Kuya were suspended from their positions as members of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) for dancing following the announcement of salary and allowance increases for council members at last year's session. Their behavior subsequently sparked public outcry over their perceived lack of empathy for the current plight of the Indonesian people.
