SOUTH Sumatra - Palembang Police in South Sumatra (Sumsel) arrested two intruders who were caught carrying sharp weapons (sajam) at a student demonstration in Palembang today.

Palembang Police Chief Kombes Pol Harryo Sugihhartono when securing the action said the two intruders were not part of the students.

"We have secured it, we are processing it at the Palembang Polrestabes," he said in the courtyard of the South Sumatra DPRD Building in Palembang, Monday,

He also thanked the lecturers who accompanied the students in expressing their aspirations.

Meanwhile, thousands of students began to fill the area of the South Sumatra DPRD Building since 12.30 WIB.

The students also had time to burn tires.

Thousands of students from various alma maters echoed their demands.

Meanwhile, the National Police and the TNI continue to be on standby in guarding the action, in order to carry out the actions of the students in conveying their aspirations.

Since last night, the South Sumatra Police and Kodam II/Sriwijaya have been patrolling the city of Palembang.

The demonstration in Palembang related to the issue of the increase in salaries of members of the DPR RI, was planned for Friday (29/8/2025). However, the action was postponed to be held today.
