Bengkalis Police Arrest 3 Perpetrators Of Battery Theft Towers XL And Telkomsel

The National Police have uncovered cases of theft of tower batteries belonging to PT Telkomsel and PT XL. Three perpetrators were arrested

Bengkalis Police Chief AKBP Budi Setiawan said it was less than 24 hours after the incident, along with evidence in the form of batteries and vehicles used to commit crimes.

This success shows the police's alertness in responding to criminal acts that harm the community and companies providing vital services.

"Since we received the report, the team immediately moved quickly. Thank God, in a short time the perpetrators were successfully secured. Bengkalis Police are committed to maintaining public security and protecting public facilities, especially those directly related to basic needs such as telecommunications," said Budi, Monday, September 1.

Budi emphasized that the police will not provide space for criminals who harm the community.

"We make sure that every criminal act will be dealt with firmly and transparently. The safety and comfort of Bengkalis residents is our priority," said Budi.

In addition, the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Bengkalis Police, Iptu Yohn Mabel, explained that the three perpetrators had the initials PH (30), MR (32), and MI (31).

They launched the theft on Saturday, August 30 in the morning at around 03.00 WIB in two locations, namely Telkomsel and XL towers in Kelapapati Village and XL towers in Kuala Alam Village.

"From the hands of the perpetrators, we secured five lithium batteries belonging to Telkomsel, one lithium battery belonging to XL, two units of XL's UUBP, and one metallic silver Avanza with police number B 2920 SII which was used to transport stolen goods," explained Iptu Yohn Mabel.

This disclosure started with an alarm of the company's system that detected an unconnected tower device. When a technician checks, it is known that theft has occurred.

From the results of a quick investigation and public information, the team managed to track down the whereabouts of the perpetrator who had fled Bengkalis Island, until he was finally arrested at a guesthouse in Siak Kecil District on Saturday night at around 19.00 WIB.

"The three of them admitted their actions and have now been detained at the Bengkalis Police Headquarters for further legal proceedings," said Yohn.
