Bloody Incident Military Vehicle Runs Over an Ojol Driver To Death, Riau Police Chief Offers Condolences, No One Should Be Provoked

JAKARTA - Riau Police Chief, Inspector General Herry Heryawan, asked the public to remain calm and not be provoked by the bloody incident that killed Affan Kurniawan, an online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver who was run over by a Brimob tactical vehicle (rantis).

The public was also asked to fully entrust the legal process involving the seven Brimob members of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police to the National Police.

"We respectfully ask the public to remain calm and think clearly, and not be easily provoked. Entrust all legal processes to the National Police," said Herry Heryawan on Friday, August 29.

The man, often called Herimen, also expressed his deepest condolences and sorrow for the bloody incident. He asked all police stations and sub-district police stations to pray for the deceased Affan and his family in this tragedy.

"We offer our condolences and condolences for what happened to our colleague, an online motorcycle taxi driver in Jakarta. We certainly feel the pain felt by the victim's family," he said.

"Let us pray that the bereaved family will be given fortitude and strength. May this serve as a reminder for us all to always be careful and value every life," Herimen added.

Furthermore, Herimen also requested that his staff pay attention to the incident in Jakarta. Humane actions must be prioritized when dealing with the public.

He also emphasized the importance of empathy and caution in every task, especially those involving high mobility and interaction with the public.

"Prioritize humanism, empathy, and caution in carrying out your duties. Avoid excessive repressive actions," he stressed.

Previously, it was reported that Affan Kurniawan died after being run over by a Brimob vehicle in the Pejompongan area, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, August 28.

In the investigation into the bloody incident, the Head of the National Police's Propam Division, Inspector General Abdul Karim, stated that seven Brimob officers have been detained. They are currently undergoing intensive questioning by the National Police's Propam Division and the Brimob Corps' Propam Division.

"So, the initials of the first seven are Kompol C, Aipda M, Bripka R, Briptu D, Bripda M, Baraka Y, and Baraka J," said Karim.

However, details regarding the results of the investigation have not been released, including who was driving the vehicle.

However, it was reported that the seven Brimob officers were inside the vehicle during the incident that killed an online motorcycle taxi driver named Affan Kurniawan.

"We are still investigating, who was driving, who was this person, we are still investigating. We don't know for sure yet," he said.

"What is clear is that these seven individuals were in one vehicle. We are still investigating their roles, as this is still under investigation," Karim continued.
