The rubble from Ukraine's shattered drone sparked a fire on the roof of an apartment building in Rostov-on-Don City, southern Russia, forcing the evacuation of 15 residents, Acting Regional Governor Rostov Yuri Slyusar said on Wednesday.
"Most importantly, no one was injured," Slyusar said via the Telegram messaging app, adding the fire was under control.
Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense said on Telegram that Russian air defense units destroyed 26 Ukrainian unmanned aircraft overnight, including 15 over the Rostov region.
The ministry published data on the number of drones destroyed by Russia, not the number launched by Ukraine.
Slyusar said the drone was shot down in seven different districts in the region, with debris crashing into the roof and a fault of several residences.
State news agency TASS reported at least seven apartment buildings were damaged following a drone strike in downtown Rostov-on-Don.
There has been no immediate comment from Ukraine. Kyiv, which has intensified its attacks on Russia in recent months, said its attacks were a response to Moscow's continued attacks on Ukraine.
