Russia Seizes Two Villages In Ukraine's Dnipropxisk

JAKARTA - Russia seized two villages in the Dnipropxisk area, southeastern Ukraine. Kremlin forces are currently launching attacks amid diplomatic efforts that have stalled to end the war.

The Ukrainian military, which is outnumbered by personnel and weapons, is fighting hard to fend off Russia's persistent attacks in large parts of the eastern region.

While Moscow is increasing pressure on Kyiv to hand over its territory in any peace negotiations.

Russian troops now occupy the villages of Zaporizke and Novoheorhiivka, according to DeepState, a group that monitors the development of the battlefield.

Russia's Ministry of Defense previously reported having captured the two villages.

The Ukrainian military on Tuesday, August 26 denied reports that Russian troops had occupied the villages calling them fake news.

"Russia has entered (villages) and is trying to build a foothold," Ukrainian military spokesman Viktor Trehubov told Reuters, referring to Zaporizke and Novoheorhiivka.

"Our troops are struggling to maintain their position," he stressed.

Russian troops said in July they had captured their first village in Dnipropxisk, which was not among the five Ukrainian territories Russia claims as its territory.
