Hundreds Of Students Arrested After Riot Demo, From Tangerang To Sukabumi

JAKARTA - A total of 196 children or students were arrested in connection with demonstrations in the DPR/MPR area which led to chaos. Based on their investigation, they came from the Tangerang to Sukabumi areas.

"These students come from Tangerang, Bekasi, Depok, Bogor, some are Sukabumi," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi to reporters, Tuesday, August 26.

During the police investigation, they admitted that they came to the DPR/MPR area because of an invitation on social media. In addition, the majority of them also admitted that they only wanted to watch demonstrations.

In fact, said Ade, it is not yet time for high school (SMA) or equivalent students to participate in demonstrations.

"They came because of an invitation from social media. Yes, so please pay attention to us together, we urge, we will monitor our children together," said Ade.

Therefore, those who often spread invitations to students are asked to stop their actions.

"So I beg the parties who also spread the flyers, invitations, to these students please stop, please. It's a pity, they should study," said Ade.

Currently, hundreds of students have been sent home. They were picked up by their parents after making a statement not to repeat their actions.

As previously reported, 351 people were arrested in connection with demonstrations in the DPR/MPR area which led to chaos. Of the hundreds of people 196 of them are children.

They are suspected of committing a criminal act, such as destroying public facilities, throwing drivers on toll roads.

Their actions are considered to have endangered other communities. Thus, it became one of the basis for the police to make arrests.

"Of the 351 people who were arrested, 155 of them were adults, then 196 were children," said Ade.

It is known that the demonstration that took place on Monday, August 25 ended in chaos. The period dominated by students attacks officers led to clashes at several points.

The crowd attacked the officers by throwing a new one, Molotov, and firing firecrackers. Meanwhile, the police responded by firing tear gas.
