Before the Bank Agent's Money Could Be Stolen, the Robber In Jambi Was Arrested In Front of Police Headquarters

TEBO - The Tebo Police, Jambi, arrested a perpetrator of an attempted armed robbery at a Himbara bank agency in Tebo Tengah District, Tebo Regency.

Tebo Police Chief, AKBP Triyanto, stated that the incident occurred on Monday at the BRI-Link agency owned by Khairunisah on the Tebo-Bungo Kilometer 4 Crossroad.

Around 4:30 p.m. WIB, a man with the initials FE (23), a resident of Bungo Regency, arrived under the pretext of filling up his motorcycle with gas.

The perpetrator then pretended to withdraw money. As soon as the victim entered the store, he brandished a machete and held him in a chokehold.

The victim screamed for help, prompting residents to arrive. Realizing his actions had been discovered, the perpetrator fled on a silver Honda Beat Street motorcycle.

About 15 minutes later, at 4:47 p.m. WIB, Tebo Police officers who were nearby saw the perpetrator fleeing. The information was immediately relayed to other officers, who eventually stopped the perpetrator right in front of the Tebo Police Headquarters.

"We have secured the perpetrator along with evidence, including a machete and the vehicle used in carrying out the attack. He is currently being questioned at the Tebo Police Criminal Investigation Unit for further legal proceedings," said Triyanto, as quoted by Antara on Tuesday, August 26.

For his actions, the perpetrator was charged under Article 2 Paragraph (1) Emergency Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 12 of 1951 concerning sharp weapons or Article 365 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 53 of the Criminal Code.
