Receiving Bintang Mahaputera Utama Award from Prabowo, Hashim Admits Uncomfortable

JAKARTA - Hashim Djojohadikusumo, the President's Special Envoy for Climate and Energy, expressed his discomfort upon receiving the Bintang Mahaputera Utama Medal of Honor from the President during the Medal of Service and Honors award ceremony at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday, August 25.

Hashim admitted to feeling uncomfortable because President Prabowo Subianto, his older brother, was the one who awarded him the honor directly.

"Frankly, when I was told about it, I felt uncomfortable because the President is my older brother," Hashim said after the Medal of Honor award ceremony at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday, August 26.

Hashim received the Medal of Honor for his services in the conservation of endangered species and cultural heritage.

Hashim admitted that this was the fourth time he had received the Medal of Honor for his services in this field.

Previously, the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, through the 11th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Boediono, also presented the award. Hashim also received two awards during the presidency of the 7th Indonesian President, Joko Widodo.

"During the Jokowi era, I received two awards, from the Minister of Environment, so this is the fourth time I've received an award, and I finally accepted it," said Hashim.

The youngest son of Soemitro Djojohadikoesoemo and Dora Marie Sigar admitted that he has been working for 20 years to preserve wildlife and cultural heritage in Indonesia, including wayang (wayang) and national archaeology.

Receiving this award has made him even more passionate about preserving national culture.

The Bintang Mahaputera Utama is awarded to figures who have rendered extraordinary service in maintaining the integrity, continuity, and glory of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

This award was given to 141 national figures based on Presidential Decrees Numbers 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, and 78/TK/2025. President Prabowo emphasized that the award is a form of state appreciation for the extraordinary dedication of the nation's sons and daughters.
