JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will start building the first international standard hospital belonging to the local government in Jakarta. The construction location is in Cakung District, East Jakarta.
Head of the DKI Jakarta Health Office Ani Ruspitawati explained the reason why Cakung was the area chosen to build the Royal Batavia Cakung Hospital.
First, Cakung is the largest sub-district in East Jakarta, with a population of around 559 thousand people. Thus, a ratio of inpatient beds of 1 to 1,000 residents is needed.
"Cakung District is currently only served by two hospitals, namely Harapan Jayakarta Hospital, Class C private hospital, and Resti Mulia's special mother and child hospital," Ani said in her statement, Tuesday, August 26.
Meanwhile, two regional public hospitals (RSUD) in East Jakarta, namely RSUDI Pasar Rebo and RSUD Budi Asih, have a distance of more than 10 kilometers from Cakung.
In addition, the prevalence rate for infectious diseases in Cakung is quite high compared to other sub-districts, which is around 21,648 cases or the second largest number in East Jakarta.
Not to mention, the number of traffic accidents that occurred in Cakung was recorded at more than 3,349 incidents or about 44 percent of the total traffic accidents in Jakarta.
"This is one of the basics of Royal Batavia hospitals in the future, it will be determined to have superior services for emerging or PIE infection diseases and trauma centers that will become centers of excellence from the Royal Batavia Cakung hospital," explained Ani.
The PIE service, which is favored at this hospital, continued Ani, is also intended to anticipate various cases that have the potential for extraordinary events, pandemics, and public health emergencies.
The plan is for Royal Batavia Cakung Hospital to be built in 2026 and is targeted to be completed by the end of 2027. Development financing comes from the APBD with a multi-year scheme.
"The construction of the Royal Batavia hospital in the Cakung area has begun with various stages, ranging from the preparation of feasibility studies, the preparation of planning documents and studies of superior services, and acceleration is carried out in 2025 for the development preparation process," explained Ani.
