DPR Approves Mauro And Miliano Naturalization Ahead Of World Cup Qualification

JAKARTA - Commission XIII of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia has approved the citizenship or naturalization of Mauro Nils Zijlstra and Miliano Jonathans to strengthen the Indonesian Football National Team ahead of the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The approval was given at the Commission XIII Working Meeting (Raker) of the DPR RI with representatives of the government, namely PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir to Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Taufik Hidayat before today's plenary meeting was held.

The meeting, which started at 08.15 WIB, approved nine athletes to strengthen the Indonesian national team in international events. Five of them are football athletes, and the other four are ice hockey athletes.

"Those are 5 football players, Mr. Erick (Chairman of PSSI)," said Chairman of Commission XIII DPR RI, Willy Aditya at a Working Meeting this morning.

Willy then concluded at this morning's Working Meeting by stating that Commission XIII of the DPR RI approved the granting of citizenship to the nine athletes.

"After hearing an explanation from the government. Commission XIII of the DPR RI approved a request for consideration for the granting of Indonesian citizenship," Willy said in a meeting.

As is known, the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification will be held on 8-14 October 2025. In this phase, Qatar and Saudi Arabia have been appointed by the AFC as the host of each group.

Group A is inhabited by Qatar, United Arab Emirates, and Oman. While Group B has Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and the Indonesian national team.
