Prabowo Fires Wamenaker Immanuel Ebenezer Suspect Of Extortion

President Prabowo Subianto officially dismissed Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan as Deputy Minister of Manpower (Wamenaker) after the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named him a suspect in an extortion case related to the processing of a work safety and health certificate (K3).

Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi explained that President Prabowo had signed a decree to dismiss Noel, Immanuel Ebenezer's popular greeting.

"The President has signed the President's decision regarding the dismissal of Brother Immanuel Ebenezer from his position as Deputy Minister of Manpower. Furthermore, we submit all legal processes to be carried out properly. We hope this will be a lesson for all of us, especially for all members of the Red and White Cabinet and all government officials," said Prasetyo Hadi as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, August 22.

Prasetyo continued President Prabowo also warned all government officials to be serious in eradicating corruption.

"Once again, the President really wants us all to work hard, to work hard in eradicating criminal acts of corruption," continued Prasetyo.

Immanuel Ebenezer was named one of the suspects in the extortion case related to the management of a work health and safety certificate (K3) by the KPK in Jakarta, Friday.

"KPK raised this case to the investigation stage by naming 11 people as suspects, one of which is the IEG," said Setyo Budiyanto.

The KPK detained Wamenaker for the first 20 days, starting from August 22 to September 10, 2025 at the KPK branch detention house at the Red and White House

Noel was named a suspect after he had been arrested by the KPK (OTT) the day before. From the OTT, the KPK confiscated around Rp170 million and US$2,201, as well as money with other denominations. Then, the KPK also confiscated 22 vehicles from Noel and 10 other suspects.

After being named a suspect on Friday afternoon, Noel publicly conveyed his apology to President Prabowo Subianto. Noel also defended himself, and said he was not subject to OTT and was not involved in an extortion case.

Therefore, Noel also hopes to get amnesty from President Prabowo.
