Bengkulu City Government Urges Residents Not To Jogging On The Road After Officials Hit People To Death

BENGKULU Bengkulu City Government (Pemkot) appealed to the public not to carry out sports activities such as leisurely walking on the shoulder of the road, especially in the Panjang Beach area, to avoid the risk of traffic accidents.

The appeal was conveyed directly by the Mayor of Bengkulu, Dedy Wahyudi, following a traffic accident involving a city government official and causing one person to die.

Friends who like to dance on Panjang Beach, avoid shaking on the road. Because it is prone to accidents. We and the TNI have cleaned the jogging track under the cypress. The atmosphere is more pronounced. The air is fresh. Come on, let's take care and keep it clean," said Dedy in Bengkulu, Antara, Thursday, August 21.

The Bengkulu City Government, said Dedy, has provided a special lane or jogging track located within the Panjang Beach area, precisely under a row of cypress trees, leading from Jalan Pariwisata to Pantai Berkas.

This route has been cleaned and repaired so that it can be used safely by the community.

This appeal was conveyed shortly after a traffic accident that killed a pedestrian named Adi Afrianto, a resident of Pagar Dewa Village, Bengkulu City.

The victim died at the scene as a result of being hit by a City Government official vehicle driven by the Head of the Bengkulu City Fisheries and Marine Service (DKP),ISSani Naidi.

The Bengkulu City Government expressed concern over the incident and handed over the legal process completely to the police.

"On behalf of the Mayor and the Bengkulu City Government, we are sorry for the disaster that occurred. The alleged perpetrator is one of our officials. We leave the process to law enforcement officials," said Dedy Wahyudi.

Currently, the Bengkulu Police Traffic Unit is still conducting intensive examinations of border Naidi. He is suspected of being the perpetrator of a hit-and-run using a red plate Toyota Innova official car belonging to the Bengkulu City Government.

The Head of Traffic for the Bengkulu Police, AKP Aan Setiawan, explained that the accident occurred when the official car was speeding from Pasir Putih Beach to Panjang Beach, precisely in the area behind Bencoolen Mall.

The driver tried to overtake the vehicle in front of him from the right side. However, due to the heavy traffic conditions, the driver swerved to the left and out of control. As a result, the victim was hit and the car hit the pole," explained Aan.

According to preliminary information,KOdya had fled because he was afraid to be targeted by the masses. However, the identity of the perpetrator was successfully revealed through CCTV footage and reports from the public around the scene.
