Head Of DKP Bengkulu Hit-and-Run Kills Pedestrian, His Wife Key Witness Still Hasn't Been Examined

The Bengkulu Police are still not examining the key witness in the hit-and-run case, killing a pedestrian whose culprit was the Head of the Bengkulu City Fisheries and Marine Service (DKP)

Head of Bengkulu Police Traffic Unit AKP Aan Setiawan said the key witness to the car that hit the pedestrian was the wife of the perpetrator of the Bengkulu City DKP. Aan reasoned that he had not been examined because the family was still grieving.

However, the examination of a number of witnesses who were at the scene of the incident was still carried out on Wednesday, August 20.

"Currently, eyewitnesses (the hit-and-run case) are still carrying out an examination report (BAP) at the Bengkulu Police Headquarters," he said in Bengkulu City, Wednesday, which was confiscated by Antara.

In the hit-and-run case, the car used by the perpetrator was an official vehicle belonging to the Bengkulu City Government (Pemkot) of the blue Innova type. The car was covered with tarpaulin by the perpetrator at his residence.

The chronology of the incident began when the car driven by the Head of the Bengkulu City DKP crossed to Panjang Beach from Pasir Putih Beach.

While around the Bencoolen Mall area, the perpetrator wanted to overtake the car in front of him at high speed which in the end could not control the wheel of the vehicle hitting pedestrians or pedestrians.

"Because the condition of the vehicle [on the road] was busy, it went straight to the left and was out of control, so the victim was hit by the perpetrator who immediately swerved and hit the pole," he said.
