Government Denies Increase In UN In Regions Due To Central Budget Efficiency

JAKARTA - The simultaneous increase in land and building taxes (PBB) by a number of regions caused a commotion among the community.

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) Bima Arya Sugiarto denied that the increase in the UN in various regions was the impact of the budget efficiency carried out by the central government.

"The increase in the UN is not the impact of central budget efficiency. Local governments must prioritize socialization and study so that policies do not burden the community", said Bima Arya Tuesday, August 19.

Based on data from the Ministry of Home Affairs, as many as 104 regions experienced an increase in taxes. Three of the 20 regions that experienced an increase in taxes above 100% were carried out in 2025, while the rest had been enforced by the previous regional head.

"To maintain conduciveness, we appeal to regional heads to conduct socialization and in-depth studies of residents before determining the policy," he concluded.

Previously, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian had reminded regional heads to be careful in making policies to increase the UN. Tito said that tax increases must adapt to the socio-economic conditions of the community.

"I convey that it should be studied and then if the socio-economic conditions of the community are not conducive or not good for a policy to be carried out, then postpone or cancel it," Tito said at the Parliament complex, Monday night.

The Minister of Home Affairs said that actually there are only 5 regions that will increase the UN tariff in 2025.
