Charity Fund For Radicalism? 5 Foundations In Muaro Jambi Closed Due To Affiliation With NII

JAMBI - Regent of Muaro Jambi, Jambi Province, Bambang Bayu Suseno officially closed five institutions affiliated with the Indonesian Islamic State (NII) group network in Muaro Jambi Regency. The foundation is known to distribute charity boxes to seek financial assistance.

"The five foundations that were closed due to being affiliated with NII in Muaro Jambi Regency, including two foundations in Jambi Luar Kota District (Jaloko) and one each in Sungai Gelam, Mestong, and Sungai Bahar sub-districts," said Bambang Bayu Suseno in Jambi, Antara, Friday, August 15.

The closure was marked by the presence of the Regent at the Madani Insan Charity Foundation, Mendalo Indah Village, Jaluko District, on Thursday.

On this occasion, Bambang appealed to the people of Muaro Jambi to be more careful in joining organizations, foundations, or institutions that have the potential to conflict with state ideology.

He also reminded the public to be more careful in donating and increasing awareness of terrorism and radicalism that could threaten the unity and integrity of the Republic of Indonesia. Residents are asked to report all suspicious activities to law enforcement officials.

"In addition, the public is also advised to be wise in using social media," said Bambang Bayu Suseno.

The Regent emphasized that foundations or institutions whose permits have been revoked were given one month to withdraw charity boxes scattered in the Muaro Jambi Regency area and outside the area.

If there is no withdrawal within the specified time limit, the integrated team will control and withdraw the charity box, then hand it over to the National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) of Muaro Jambi Regency.
