PONOROGO - The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Ponorogo Police, East Java, has uncovered the practice of producing and selling obese drugs and illegal slowing down carried out by a fake health worker with the initials MQJ, a resident of Lumajang.

Ponorogo Police Chief, AKBP Andin Wisnu Sudibyo said the raid was carried out after his party received a public report regarding suspicious pharmaceutical activity.

The perpetrator was secured along with an employee in a house that was used as a place of business in the Purbosuman Village Housing area, Ponorogo District.

"From the location, we secured 3,500 bottles that read 'Detox Fat' each containing 30 pills of medicine, 90 bottles of vitamin that add weight ready for distribution, 55,000 green pills, thousands of empty bottles along with labels, and Rp500,000 in cash," said AKBP Andin in Ponorogo, Antara, Friday, August 15.

The results of the investigation revealed that the perpetrator did not have an official permit to produce or distribute drugs.

These products are sold online through social media and marketplaces at a price of IDR 15,000 per bottle.

The illegal business has been running for three months with a turnover of around Rp. 1 million per month. Drug raw materials were obtained from a marketplace in Central Java, then repackaged using a homemade label and brand.

"The perpetrator did not know the content of the drugs he was selling. He only repackaged according to feeling and the results of self-taught," said Andin.

For his actions, MQJ was charged with Article 196 of the Health Law Number 36 of 2009 concerning the circulation of illegal drugs, with the threat of a sentence of 12 years in prison and a fine of up to IDR 1 billion.

"Currently, we have secured the perpetrators and evidence at the Ponorogo Police Headquarters for further investigation," he concluded.
