Owners Of Drug Plants In Serang City Sentenced To Death

SERANG - The panel of judges at the Serang District Court, Banten sentenced the owner of a paracetamol type drug factory, caffeine, to find sopeodol (PCC) in Serang City, Beny Setiawan.

He is considered the mastermind of production and circulation of hundreds of thousands of koli of this dangerous hard drug.

"Therefore, the defendant is sentenced to death," said Chief Judge Galih Dewi Inanti Akhmad when reading the verdict at the Serang District Court, Serang City, Thursday, August 14.

Beny's right-hand man, Faisal, was also sentenced to death. Both were found guilty of violating Article 113 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of the Narcotics Law, according to the demands of the Public Prosecutor of the Serang District Attorney.

Judge Galih explained that Beny was a recidivist who controlled the production of PCC pills while serving his sentence at the Pemuda Prison in Tangerang.

This case previously ensnared Beny's family and subordinates. His wife, Reni Maria Anggraeni, was sentenced to 17 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 10 billion, subsidiary to 2 years in prison. His son, Andrei Fathur Rohman, and his son-in-law, Muhamad Lutfi, were each sentenced to 20 years in prison and similar fines.

Factory employees, Jafar as mixers, and Abdul Wahid as logistics manager, were sentenced to life imprisonment. Other employees, Hapas, Acu, and Burhanudin, were each sentenced to 20 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 10 billion, subsidiary to 2 years in prison.
